Updating itunes manually
DO NOT INTERFERE with the device when it is being updated, doing so may mess up the update.
When finished, the i Phone, i Pad, or i Pod touch will reboot itself automatically and enter the i OS 9 setup screens.
This walkthrough demonstrates using IPSW firmware files for updating an i Phone or i Pad to i OS 11 that is operating as usual.
Note that you can also use IPSW files when a device is in recovery mode or DFU mode if need be, but that is not specifically covered here.
You’ll be prompted to pick a six digit passcode, setup Hey Siri, and asked a few other questions.
Run through the simple setup, and you’ll be presented with your device that is freshly updated to i OS 9.
Do note this firmware based method is intended for advanced users.
The average i Phone, i Pad, or i Pod touch owner should install the i OS 9 software update through the Settings app in i OS, or through i Tunes as usual.
Nonetheless, it’s not terribly complicated and just about anyone can perform the procedure should they need to, if they follow instructions properly.
Nonetheless, always backup before beginning a software update.
i Tunes will show a progress bar as it extracts the software from the IPSW file, updates the i Phone / i Pad / i Pod touch, and then reboots.
For most users, i OS 11 goes well and they are able to enjoy the new interesting features available in i OS 11.
There are mixed reports of poor battery life after i OS 11 update, but most of those energy issues can be resolved with a few simple tips if need be.
